Dr Arun
In 2016, Arun completed a Graduate Certificate in Oral Health Science from University of Adelaide which enables him to treat adult patients in addition to children aged 0-18 yrs old. His education and experience enhanced his previous studies in the field of dentistry and further improved his knowledge of some of the specific issues that apply to adult patients.
Arun has also received a degree in Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Queensland in 2015. During his training from one of the leading universities in Australia he has become accustomed to the scope of practice of an Oral Health Therapist and the policies, codes, and guidelines as prescribed by the Dental Board of Australia.
In the past, Arun has worked as a Dental Surgeon (Bangalore University, 1997) with the Hospital for Orthopedic, Medical Accidents, and Trauma (HOSMAT) in Bangalore (India) where he was responsible for the management of most aspects of the dental department. He performed general dentistry on children and adults alike while also referring cases that were beyond his scope of practice to subordinates and specialists. He has always believed in the concept of holistic dentistry whereby he supported and enabled individuals and communities to increase control over their own oral health by giving individualized health education, health promotion, and treatment plans thereby empowering them to improve their overall health.
Arun’s role within Implant Art will be implant-related care:
- Pre-implant care: Being an OHT he can help prepare patients for implant surgery by providing thorough cleanings and improving overall oral health.
- Post-implant maintenance: After implants are placed by a dentist or specialist, Arun can assist with ongoing care and cleaning of the implants to help ensure their longevity.
- Patient education: Arun can also educate patients about proper home care for their implants.
Therefore, for implant procedures, Arun will work collaboratively with dentists:
- The dentist will diagnose the need for implants, plan the treatment, and perform the surgical placement.
- Arun, as an OHT, may assist before and after the procedure with preparatory care and follow-up maintenance.
This collaborative approach allows each professional to work within their area of expertise while providing comprehensive care to the patient.
